Flying High in Arvin: Power Line Work with a Lift (Literally)

If you happened to be in Arvin, California recently and looked up, you might’ve caught something a little unusual overhead: a helicopter delicately delivering a 40-foot power pole into position like it was no big deal.

For our crew, it was just another day in the field — but with a view.

The Job: Overhead Power Line Upgrades in Arvin

This project was all about strengthening and expanding critical electrical infrastructure in the Arvin area. Here’s what the scope included:

  • Testing 53 existing utility poles to ensure ongoing safety and performance
  • Installing five new spans of 4160V overhead power lines (OHPL) to support increased demand
  • Replacing two poles on the existing line using helicopter-assisted lifts — a strategic choice that minimized ground impact and made the work safer and faster in hard-to-access terrain

It’s the kind of job that requires planning, precision, and trust in your team — both on the ground and in the air.

Why Use a Helicopter?

Bringing in a helicopter isn’t just for drama (although yes, it does look pretty incredible).

Helicopter-assisted pole setting offers big benefits:

  • Less ground disturbance – no need for large trucks or heavy machinery in sensitive areas
  • Increased efficiency – poles can be placed quickly and exactly where they need to go
  • Improved safety – crews spend less time near high-traffic or difficult terrain zones

A Team Effort, Start to Finish

Projects like this don’t happen without behind-the-scenes coordination. From engineers and safety leads to linemen and helicopter pilots, every step of this project was handled with care — and more than a little adrenaline.

We’re proud of the work our crew did in Arvin. It’s another example of what happens when you combine experience, modern tools, and a company culture built on doing things right.

Most people don’t think twice when they flip a switch and the lights come on. Power is something we expect — steady, invisible, and always there. But behind that simple action is an entire network of systems, testing, and expertise that keeps electricity flowing safely and reliably every day.

It’s the kind of work that happens quietly, out of sight, but it’s the foundation of everything we do.

What You Don’t See (But Always Feel)

The “hidden grid” isn’t just made up of wires, substations, and poles — it’s made up of people. Electricians, engineers, and technicians who monitor, maintain, and repair systems that keep entire communities running.

When an outage strikes or a system falters, our crews are already preparing — often before the public even knows there’s a problem. Whether it’s troubleshooting a failed transformer, testing underground lines, or upgrading power distribution, our goal is simple: keep the current flowing.

Preventing Problems Before They Start

Reliability doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built through preventative maintenance, regular inspections, and continuous testing — the kind of work most people never see but benefit from every day.

Our teams specialize in:

  • Infrared scanning and load testing to detect early signs of equipment stress.
  • Ground resistance and insulation testing to ensure system integrity.
  • Transformer and switchgear maintenance to prevent failures.
  • Underground cable inspection to catch wear before it becomes downtime.

Every inspection, test, and tune-up helps avoid costly outages and ensures systems perform the way they’re meant to — safely and efficiently.

Technology + Experience = Reliability

Modern technology has made it possible to monitor electrical systems with incredible precision. But tools are only as effective as the people using them.

Our crews combine state-of-the-art testing equipment with years of field experience, reading the data, spotting the warning signs, and addressing issues before they escalate. That balance of tech and craftsmanship is what keeps businesses, facilities, and farms powered around the clock.

“The best electrical work is often the work you never notice — because it’s done right the first time.”

The Work That Keeps Everything Moving

From hospitals and schools to agricultural pumps and processing plants, every operation depends on reliable power. And while the spotlight often shines on new construction or big installations, the maintenance and upkeep behind the scenes are what keep everything running smoothly.

That’s the heart of our work — protecting the systems that protect our communities.

A Quiet Kind of Pride

There’s a certain satisfaction in knowing that your work might never be noticed — because that means it’s doing its job perfectly.

For our teams, that’s the reward: power that stays on, systems that stay strong, and a community that keeps moving forward without interruption.

Power you can depend on. Work you can’t always see. That’s the Braun standard.
